It was our first time in Los Angeles and our first time at the NOVO Theater. As we prepare for our 10th annual concert – and our first time going virtual – Dec 11 2020 on Tik Tok and Dec 13 2020 on Youtube and Facebook, I wanted to share this special piece on content. I really do believe that rock n roll can change the world. For the past decade, Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays has brought an incredible array of musicians and comedians together to raise awareness and much-needed funds to end LGBTQ youth homelessness in America and around the globe. Since the first concert in 2011, we have had over 100 artists join in this special evening. https://truecolorsunited.org 100% of the proceeds support True Colors United’s mission of implementing innovative solutions to youth homelessness by focusing on the unique experiences of LGBTQ youth and youth of color. Each year in America, 4.2 million youth experience homelessness and up to 40% of them identify as LGBTQ. No young person should be without a safe and stable home and certainly not because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We believe that this is a fixable problem – and we need your help. True Colors United has built a welcoming, more inclusive society for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness. By collaborating with service providers, government and community leaders, and young people from all across the country, we’ve made it easier for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness to get the help they need. Whether it is free trainings on LGBTQ inclusion for thousands of stakeholders, sharpening the skills of young leaders who have experienced homelessness, or ensuring that communities across the country have the funding and programs they need, True Colors United is leading the way to end youth homelessness once and for all.
